September is Summit First Aid Squad Month

September in Summit is officially designated as First Aid Squad Month.  The proclamation by Mayor Jordon Glatt was made on September 7th at the Summit Common Council Meeting.   In attendance at the meeting were Squad President, Steve Mortenson, past President John Staunton, and Captain of the Squad, Kari Phair.

Mayor Glatt recognized the contributions made by the all-volunteer squad to the citizens of Summit.  "The First Aid Squad is Summit's biggest bang for the buck," he said, referring to the all-volunteer staff which is funded entirely by donations.   Mayor Glatt mentioned that the Squad's annual fund drive also begins in September, before handing the printed proclamation to Squad President, Steve Mortenson.

"'Neighbors helping neighbors' has been our slogan since 1962," said Mortenson.  "We handle over 2,000 calls every year now, and it remains our privilege to serve the citizens of Summit."

The First Aid Squad's annual fund drive officially kicks off during the week of September 20th.   The Squad funds its operations entirely through donations made by the Summit community.  For more information, please call 908-277-9479 or visit the website at www.summitems.org.
