Budget Presentations Set for Jan. BOE Meetings

Highlights will include talk of special education, curriculum, and athletic budget needs and school uniforms pilot.

Budget presentations and a discussion on the possibility of a pilot project for school uniforms are on the agendas for the Summit Board of Education’s January meetings.

A proposal for a one-year pilot program for school uniforms will be the topic of a board discussion at the workshop meeting scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 12, 7:30 p.m., in the board conference room of Wilson School, 14 Beekman Terrace.

Also on the workshop agenda are board committee reports. The board will convene for a regular meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 19, at Lincoln-Hubbard School, 52 Woodland Ave.

Overview reports for special education, curriculum, and athletic budget needs for the 2012-2013 school year will be made by Special Education Director Dr. Jane Kachmar-Desonne, Assistant Superintendent of Schools Julie Glazer, and Athletic Director Mike Sandor, respectively.

Opening the regular meeting will be a visual and performing arts presentation by Lincoln-Hubbard School students featuring artwork and performances by members of the select chorus and orchestra.

I would thoroughly welcome a district school uniform for no other reason than it would be easier to get them dressed and out the door. Sign us up!
