Family: We Are Grateful For Support of Community

Stevenson family says they are trying to achieve closure after 15-year-old Alexis Stevenson went missing Monday.

The Stevenson family has issued a statement thanking the community for their support this week after 15-year-old daughter Alexis Stevenson went missing on Monday.

"People want answers," said Michelle Stevenson, Alexis' mom and Vice President of the Board of Education. "It’s a very hard time for our family because we have to get the answers ourselves. So I need time to do that. And to do that in way that’s in my daughter’s best intertest."

It is with immense gratitude that we thank the Summit community for its support in dealing with an “unbelievable family crisis." As you can imagine, having a child that goes missing for any reason is simply a gut wrenching experience that is very humbling, and resonates with all of us at some level.

At this juncture, however, we realize that the quest for resolve really has just begun and that your continued prayers are much needed and vastly appreciated.  Unfortunately, we are also aware of the speculative nature of our family’s situation.  However, it is not our intention to address innuendos and misleading happenstance.  Our family would much rather focus on healing from this traumatic experience and give thanks for the overwhelming support we received in the search for our daughter.

We are unable to specify details at this time due to the fact that we are currently in the midst of trying to bring closure so that we can move forward.  Ultimately, it is imperative that the community of Summit understand how much our family appreciates everyone’s concern; and that we are eternally grateful for all the love and support that we have received.
