Gallery “Walk & Talk” to Provide an Insider’s View of Arts Center Show
"Visitors will be able to connect to the exhibition in a fun and informal way," according to the arts center.
The Visual Arts Center of New Jersey will offer a free tour of its winter exhibition Textility, with a special twist: Co-curators Mary Birmingham, Joanne Mattera and other artists in the show will actually be the guides, discussing the art on view.
The event takes place Sunday, March 25, from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. It's a chance to learn about the textile-heavy works from the actual creators. "Visitors will be able to connect to the exhibition in a fun and informal way, while deepening their understanding of contemporary art," according to a statement from the arts center.
Textility is described as an exploration of "the inventive ways contemporary artists employ materials, concepts, and processes associated with textiles to convey their ideas."
A total of 28 artists are featured in the show.
Gallery visitors are encouraged to "check-in" using their smartphones via Facebook and Foursquare during the event to unlock a discount towards the purchase of the "Texitlity" exhibition catalogue.
