In 2008, the publication was the recipient of the prestigious Parents’ Choice Approved Award for excellence in literacy. And now, again, the publication was designated a 2012 Parents’ Choice Approved Award. Kidsville News! is the only free children’s newspaper to be recognized in the magazines and newspapers category. Writing to congratulate Kidsville News! on this award, the President of the Parents’ Choice Foundation, Claire S. Green, said, “As a Parents’ Choice Award® winner, you’re a member of a very select group. Fewer than 20% of the products submitted to the Parents’ Choice Awards program receive any level of commendation. It’s an honor that doesn’t come easily; you should be very proud of your achievement.”

Contributing to the popularity and fun of Kidsville News! are the publication’s easy-to-use website and its friendly green dragon mascot, “Truman.”, who echoes the love-of-learning message and engenders the loyalty that makes kids “Tru-blue ” readers.
