Although the television show ended in 2009, the fictional world of detective Adrian Monk continues to find inspiration in Summit. Now, solely a book series, the latest tome "Mr. Monk on Patrol", which was released last week has brought the lead character to the Hill City to solve a crime.

Patch previously wrote about the Summit-based writers of the Emmy-winning show that ran for eight seasons.

According to the blog for show and book series writer Lee Goldberg, this latest volume picks up on a plot point created in the final episode on the television program.

Adrian Monk, the obsessive-compulsive detective, and his assistant Natalie Teeger travel to New Jersey to help out former SFPD detective Randy Disher, who is now Chief of Police of Summit and living with Sharona Fleming, Monk's previous assistant.  But the story is about much more than that...or the reunion with beloved characters...or the complex murders that Monk eventually solves.

I'm going to read it! I'm such a Monk fan. Thanks, Mr. Goldberg! And Mr. Breckman. And Mr. Hoberman. And Mr. Scharpling . . . .
