Mark Jones Wins Back-to-Back High Jump Championships
Katie Watson places second in record breaking time for 1,600 meter championship race
Mark Jones won back-to-back titles in the high jump with a jump of 6 feet, 8 in. at the New Jersey High School Winter Track Meet of Champions last weekend. He joins an elite group of only three high school students in meet history who have won back-to-back championships.
Jones continued that winning streak March 1, capturing first place at the Eastern States Championship at the New York Armory. Jones is currently ranked second in
the nation in the high jump.
Katie Watson took second place in the 1,600 meter championship race. Watson ran a spectacular sub-five minute race, breaking the Union County record and the long standing 30 Summit High School record. Summit's Isabella Yozzi, Bridget O'Brien, Rebecca Cummings, Daria Chadwick and Aleixa Diaz also qualified and participated in various events at the Meet of Champions.
