Overlook Parent Company Named to Fortune 100 List

Atlantic Health named one of the 100 best companies to work for.

For the second year in a row Atlantic Health, parent company to Overlook Hospital, was name to Fortune Magazine's "100 Best Companies to Work For" list.

The only hospital system in Northern New Jersey to receive this honor, Fortune cited Atlantic Health's growth this year despite the bleak economic conditions and the company's accomplishments in communicating with its employees.

"We have long recognized the importance of not only being able to hire people, but to also ensure that our employees have a worthwhile experience working here. With thoughtful guidance and careful planning, we have been able to continue to do both amid a less-than-preferable economic climate," said Andrew Kovach, vice president of Human Resources and Chief Administrative Officer in a press release. "To again be recognized for a second consecutive year through the support and dedication of our employees is the most rewarding feedback for those efforts we could receive."

"I enjoyed the atmosphere here and personnel here," he said. "So, I applied for full time position here."

Atlantic Health was also selected for its emphasis on a work/life balance in its recruitment efforts, through "time off" benefits, child and elder care resources, back up care, and on-site daycare.

Kalynovych has actually spent time at both Overlook and Atlantic Health's sister hospital, Morristown Memorial and said he was shocked at the comapmy's commitment to promoting from within and the assistance they provided him to learn new skills and become a manager.

"When I first started, I didn't think I'd climb the ladder at all," he said. "I found out there are different branches in respiratory like pulmonary function, bronchoscopy, pulmonary rehabilitation. They were very willing to train me show me the ropes and what goes on."

Atlantic Health was also named in the fall of 2009 to the AARP's new hospitals-health care list for Best Employers for Workers over 5o.
