Summit Police have arrested Ronald A. Perry, II, 18, of Summit and an unnamed teen from Irvington in the alleged robbery of a pair of teens on Union Place on May 4th. Police are still searching for a third suspect in the robbery.

Here are the details of a Summit Police press release sent out this afternoon: 

At approximately 11:15 p.m. on May 4th, the Summit Police Department took a report from a 15-year- old male who stated that he and his friend, also a 15-year-old male, had both been the victims of a strong-arm robbery earlier that evening. He stated that he and his friend were walking on Union Place in the vicinity of Starbucks when they were approached by three males who blocked their path and demanded their cell phones and wallets.

These individuals threatened the victims with physical harm if they did not comply and further warned the victims not to attempt to attract the attention of police officers. Ultimately, the robbers took cash in the amount of twenty-three dollars total from both victims and fled in the direction of the train station.

On May 5th, following bulletins sent out to surrounding police departments, Springfield Police reported that an individual matching the description of one of the robbers was the subject of a traffic stop in their town. This individual was subsequently turned over to Summit Police for questioning.

Following an investigation by the Summit Police Department Detective Bureau, Mr. Perry was arrested and charged as noted. He was remanded to the Union County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail, no ten percent. In addition, on May 9, another juvenile suspect was charged with 2nd degree robbery and released into the custody of his guardian. Investigation is continuing into the involvement of a third juvenile suspect.
