Rotary Donates Dictionaries to Summit Students

Local Rotarian donated book to all third-graders in the district.

For the seventh year, Rotarian Gregory Drummond generously donated dictionaries to all the third graders in the Summit Public Schools.

The Dictionary Project, which started in 1992, hoped that local sponsors — such as Rotary Clubs — would provide dictionaries to every third grader in the United States. According to their website (www.dictionaryproject.org) their goal is to assist all students in becoming good writers, active readers, creative thinkers, and resourceful learners by providing them with their own personal dictionary.

Rotary President John Leatherbee and Rotarian Greg Drummond traveled from school to school making deliveries. Here, they are at the Franklin Library with third grade students.
