Summit Crime Report: Home Burglaries, Bicycle and Laptop Thefts
All arrest information is provided by the Summit Police Department. An arrest does not indicate guilt, only a court of law can make that decision.
There were several reported incidents of burglary last month according to Summit police reports.
A Glenside Avenue resident reported a burglary and theft that occured on July 22 at around 3:30 p.m. A suspect reportedly entered the home while a another person diverted the homeowner's attention, according to reports. Nearly $2,000 was reported missing: $800.00 in American Express Traveler’s Checks, $400.00 Euro and $700.00 U.S. currency.
An attempted burglary was reported on July 18, at a Canoe Brook Parkway home. The alleged incident occured between 7p.m. and 7:21p.m. Although there was no entry to the home, the door jam showed pry marks, according to the report.
Several items were also reported stolen from the Municipal Golf Course late last month. On July 30th, a report says a pink Nokia flip phone, $150 cash, and a Dewalt hammer drill were taken in an alleged overnight burglary.
An IBM Think Pad laptop, worth $500, was reported stolen from a Beechwood Road office. The incident occured between July 2 and July 10, according to a report.
On July 20, between 8a.m. and 10:30a.m. a Lenovo laptop computer was reportedly stolen from a car parked on Springfield Avenue. The computer is valued at $1,400.
Other thefts in town
A car battery from an automobile parked at a Morris-Essex Turnpike gas station was reportedly stolen sometime between 7p.m. and 6a.m., July 30.
A $90 pair of Nike sneakers were reportedly stolen from the lunch area at Overlook Hospital between 7:20 p.m. and 7:30 a.m. on July 14.
On Aug. 3, a person taking a black Giant Expressway folding bike for a test ride around 2p.m. never returned. The bicycle shop, located on Springfield Avenue reported the value of the bike at $460.
A $3,000 bicycle was reported stolen at around 1p.m. on July 24 from a Springfield Avenue home. The 20-speed men’s mountain bike was taken from an open garage, according to a police report.
Lori Fischer, 52, of Summit was arrested at Springfield Avenue on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
Jaliyl A. Lynn, 23, of Springfield, was arrested on a charge of driving while suspended.
Oksana G. Rubin, 42, of Springfield, was arrested at Briant Park Drive on a charge of driving while intoxicated.
David Frederick Day, 56, of Roselle Park, was arrested at Broad Street and Maple Street on a charge of obstruction of justice.
Evelyn N. Obando, 33, of Summit, was arrested at Morris Avenue on a charge of aggravated assault.
