Authorities are warning residents to avoid all non-essential travel at this point in time.
Sandy has been wreaking havoc on Summit since mid-afternoon.
Residents across Summit are reporting outages. The trouble started around 2p.m. when a large tree on Mountain Avenue knocked out telephone and power lines.
Two hours later, a tree fell on a home, causing injuries on Woodland Avenue. Just moments later, on Oxbow Lane, another injury was caused when a tree fell on a vehicle.
Patch will continue to provide updates throughout this hurricane event.
