Portal contains construction cost estimates, FAQ section and a timeline, among other items.
In an effort to organize all the information on the Full Day Kindergarten discussion, a new portal has launched on the Summit School District website.
The district website now has a section, specifically designated for information on Full Day Kindergarten. There, you will find the construction cost estimates, frequently asked questions (in both English and Spanish), a history of FDK, research articles and studies on the topic, a timeline and more.
This information portal is designed as the go-to place for all your questions, so you can make an informed decision.
Please visit the site at: http://www.summit.k12.nj.us/Full_Day_Kindergarten/.

Typical bureaucrats. "Summit Board of Education agrees..." Anything that makes the board of education more powerful and influential they will of course agree with. Many studies clearly show that FDK results are only short term and students return no previous performance levels within a year or two. Also, FDK will disrupt the free, charity services for those who need it. So, we put those charities out of business. So, more dependency on the state for the poor.

The BOE lost. They have not been able to convince the resedents of Summit that they should pay for FDK. It is time for them to move on and work on improving the education that Summit currently provides. In the NJ high school rankings from US News and World Report. Summit was ranked 25 which was below Elizabeth (number 6), Chatham (7), Milburn (12) and Westfield (19). Summit needs to do better.
