The 12-year-old Kohl Angelo of Maplewood will be memorialized on August 4 at Christ Church.

Kohl Douglas Angelo will be remembered Saturday, August 4, with a funeral and a private burial ceremony. The 12-year-old Maplewood boy died on July 24 after a long battle with cancer.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Christ Church, 561 Springfield Avenue, Summit, NJ.

According to his obituary, Kohl was a Maplewood Middle School student, a striker for the Cougar Soccer Club travel team, an accomplished viola and piano player, and an avid Xbox player.

Kohl loved classical music, especially Mozart, the band Coldplay, the color yellow, and his naughty dog, Haley. Kohl dazzled everyone with his winning smile, quick wit and dry sense of humor, all of which he inherited from his grandfather, Doug. Kohl lived life to the fullest and touched many hearts in his short life. We are all in awe of his strength and courage.

Kohl is survived by his parents, Kelly and Peter Angelo; brothers, Austin and Branden; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Angelo of Clark, NJ and Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Koehler of Boynton Beach, FL; and many other loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.

The Maplewood - South Orange community held numerous events to support Kohl and his familiy, from art auctions to middle school collections.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kohl's name to: HK C.A.R.E./Kohl Angelo, HK Community Fund, 515 Valley Street, Suite 130, Maplewood, NJ 07040 http://www.hkcommunityfund.org/
