'Around the World in 80 Minutes' Orchestra Performance to Take Place in Summit

The New Jersey Intergenerational Orchestra will perform at Summit High School on April 20.

The following information was provided by the NJ Intergenerational Orchestra. Join the New Jersey Intergenerational Orchestra at a free concert as they take a musical journey “Around the World in 80 Minutes” on Saturday April 20th, 7:30pm at Summit High School. Guest Conductor Todd Doan and the orchestra will take the audience on a musical adventure that includes Russian composer Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s brilliant encapsulation of Spanish folk tunes in Cappricio Espagnol and French composer Camille Saint-Saën’s exotic Danse Bacchanale from Samson and Delila. Dreamcatcher Repertory Theatre Hosts Annual Mother's Day Gala

The annual Mother's Day Eve Gala celebration will take place on May 11.

  The following information was provided by the Dreamcatcher Theatre.  Dreamcatcher Repertory Theatre, professional Theatre in Residence at the Oakes Center in Summit, is hosting their annual gala celebration on Saturday, May 11 at 5:30 pm at the Elks Lodge, 40 Maple Street in Summit. This year’s gathering focuses on the important women in all of our lives, and provides a unique alternative or supplement to celebrating Mother’s Day with Sunday brunch. The evening will begin with cocktails and appetizers at 5:30 pm, followed by a catered dinner at 6:30. Celebrity Chef to Host Cooking Classes at Twin Maples April 10, 24

Dianne Hendricks will host two cooking classes and promote her new cookbook at Twin Maples. Also, new author Jean Criss will be promoting her own novel.

On April 10 and 24, Chef Dianne Hendricks will host two cooking nights at Twin Maple Estate from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. to teach attendees ‘all about the additions’ to take meals to the next level. “Learn how to combine delicious ingredients into concoctions 
that change a simple piece of protein, bowl of fruit or veggies, 
pot of whole grain or any basic ingredient into a flavor packed dish,” the event listing states. The event will consist of Hendricks putting on an eight-course cooking demonstration using her well-known ‘green’ culinary tools and spices. Summit HS Graduate’s Movie Accepted Into Boston Student Film Festival

Jeremy Weiss, a graduate of Summit High School, created the movie Riff Raf that has been accepted into the Boston Student Film Festival.

  Jeremy Weiss is a Summit High School graduate who is now pursuing a graduate degree in film at Emerson College; his film Riff Raf is one of twelve films accepted into the 2013 Boston Student Film Festival.  Riff Raf is black and white film about a Jazz Musician who finds himself in a situation of mistaken identity. Although Weiss originally wrote Riff Raf in 2006, it was not until his acceptance into Emerson where he realized he finally had the chance to make the movie. “The film and the story matured over time as I did,” Weiss said. He added that it took many years for him to be committed to a story he believed in from start to finish. Group Piano Begins April 1 at Chatham Adult School

Annual 'For Art's Sake' Spring Fundraiser Returns in April

The 'For Art's Sake' event will take place on April 12 and 13.

The following information was provided by The Visual Arts Center of New Jersey. The Visual Arts Center of New Jersey will hold its annual For Art’s Sake fundraiser on April 12 & 13. Co-chaired by Sue Welch and Helaine Winer, the two-day event begins on Friday, April 12, as guests board luxury coaches for an insider’s tour of the private homes of noted contemporary art and glass collectors. Following the tour, guests will return to the Art Center for a dessert reception and will be among the first to preview the silent auction artwork for Saturday’s Blank Canvas Benefit.
