My Name is Brian Turczmanovicz and I am undiscovered writer...
I began writing in Linden high school in a notebook that I had for english class. Mr. Ferrante was my teacher and he had every student write for five minutes of class anything they wanted. One day i wrote a chapter of a book. Then another. I wrote 153 pages by hand in notebook a story I called, "OUTCASTS" a story about three boys living holmess in New York City and still trying to to go to school and act normal even with the bullying and gangs in the school. I finished the book in only 6 months I was only 16.
I have written much then 3 more books before college . I am at Kean University now. Trying to go 3-0.
By that I mean I wrote a science fiction novel my fall semster at Kean University.
"artifical Imprisonment" a 165 page book. It is a story about a prison with artificail intelligant robots guards/policemen, and the prisoners were human. In the future humankind fears robots so they program them to be prison guards. But as you read the book you seek sympathy for the prisoners.
That the robots scan the cells with x-ray vision, infared, that if a prisoner's heart beat is monitored to accelerate they must be restrained, that the human prisoners are so untrustworthy they are fed through tubes into their mouths and are timed on how long they can go to the bathroom.
You follow the story through the eyes of prison, Eddie Mars, and you make your own judgement of humanity. The robots policeman are watching, they have rules to follow, so do the prisoners. Some prisoners are good and some are not. Some robots are bad and some are not.
I then wrote a 313 page novel my spring semester at Kean University called "Hero Files" where I talk about the superhero genre. Except I make the story like real life. where you have high school superheroes where their emotional problems are more important than thier actual powers. I write about a high school student called "Hermes" who is 15 years old, has lost both his parents, is using a fake identity to have a job as a finacial advisor to take care of his younger brother. His powers are super speed because he tore both of his ACLS and MCLS trying out for the track team but didn't get in because of a jock like coach. And now he has medal brackets around his legs imbedded into his muscles giving him is super powers. But his powers aren't the focus here. He worrries about picking up his brother from school, driving a car without a liscense, trying not to get caught because he knows foster care will split him and his brother up....and then there are 4 other teenagers in this story that have powers and issues and they all comingle trying to hide their identity from society.
Because in reality if we have super heros there is no league of heroes, there are no adult super heores to parent them and the world is plagued by fear and doubt of special powers...
and the third book I am writing is still production. Once I get more of it done I will be able to tell you about it.
I wanted to share this with everyone because I hear teachers complain about why there aren't good writers or talented students in their high school or college. Well I am one of them and I am trying to make everyone proud and aware of my work and show thier is talented and educated students out there.
I get really mad when I see writing contests that are done by an organization or publishing company and they only want poetry or short stories. No novels. When there are high school students and middle school students with the talent who are writing 100+ page novels who can write maybe the next great novel. But can't. And it is even harder getting published.
