The city continues to mourn the death of former Mayor Walter Long, 66, who died April 13 after a long battle with cancer. At Wednesday's meeting of common council, this portrait of Long stood in the foyer along with a memory board were residents could leave their memories of and messages to Walter. One from Councilman Tom Getzendanner read "the greated cheerleader we ever had."
Every week since January we've been compiling the best photo of the week. In a few cases the photo of the week was really many photos in the form of a slideshow but nonetheless we now have a look back on 2010. Some weeks we chose a photo that exemplified a historic moment in Summit's history. Others we simply chose the best photo: whether that was a dog sniffing the camera lens or a young child splashing in the pool at the Family Aquatic Center. So now we give you 2010: A Year in Photos.
