Makoto Yoshida, Ph.D.
Dr. Yoshida, a specialist in Singapore Math, is one of the foremost researchers and educators of lesson study in the United States--a professional development practice for teachers that has its origins in Japanese elementary education. He coined the term "lesson study" by translating the original Japanese term “jugyokenkyu” in his dissertation research.

In addition to consulting for iSingapore Math LLC, Dr. Yoshida serves as the Director of the Center for Lesson Study at William Paterson University, and as President of Global Education Resources, helping elementary and middle school mathematics teachers improve their content knowledge and classroom instruction. He received his M.A. and Ph.D. in education from the University of Chicago.
