The Summer International Film Festival continues at the Springfield Free Public Library today, Thursday, August 2, 2012.  The library will screen The Artist (2011) at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m.  In 1927, George Valentin is a silent movie superstar. However, the advent of the talkies will kill his career and he will sink into oblivion.  For young extra Peppy Miller, it seems the sky's the limit as major movie stardom awaits.  Though their careers are taking different paths, their destinies will become entwined. This film is 100 minutes and rated PG-13.

Funding for the film program has been made possible in part by the NJ State Council on the Arts, Department of State, a partner agency of the National Endowment for the Arts, through a grant administered by the Union County Office of Cultural and Heritage Affairs and by the Friends of the Springfield Free Public Library.

Admission is free and refreshments are served.  Assistive listening devices are available upon request.  The Springfield Free Public Library is located at 66 Mountain Avenue, Springfield, NJ 07081. 973-376-4930. www.sfplnj.org.  All are welcome.
