A team of two members of Girl Scout Troop 40408 are collecting “green” or earth friendly cleaning supplies to help single moms or families setting up housekeeping for the first time. This collection is part of an effort for the Girl Scouts to gain their Silver Award.
The Scouts are working with Missions Possible, a non-profit group who helps single moms moving into transitional housing. They are looking for donations including buckets, soap, white vinegar, Borax, club soda, spray bottles, magic erasers, lemon juice, baking soda, stain remover, sponges, hand towels, paper towels, “Simple Green” products, cleaning supply coupons, and plastic measuring cups.
There are four locations you can donate your supplies:
A donation bin will be placed in the atrium of the Cranford Community Center, 200 Walnut Avenue. The center is open from 8 a.m. - 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and from 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. on Fridays.
Collection bins will also be placed in the Cranford First Presbyterian Church, 11 Springfield Avenue,
Cranford and in Saint Michael’s
Church of Cranford, 40 Alden Street.
The girls will also be collecting at Kings on South Avenue in Garwood on August 5, 2012 from 11am-2pm.
