What Is the Philosophy of Art?

Presented by Tiger Roholt, Assistant Professor of Philosophy, Montclair State University

A surprising number of philosophy's principal figures, known for their moral philosophy, metaphysics, and so on, have written seriously about art including: Plato, Hume, Kant, Hegel, Nietzsche, and Heidegger. Why is this? By discussing the issues that have continually perplexed philosophers, Dr. Roholt will attempt to answer that question as well as the question of the lecture title.
