Wolf Creek to perform at UCVTS FBLA "Project Hope"

On Friday, February 1s the Union County Vo-Tech Schools’ Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) club with hold their annual “Project Hope”. The Union County Vo-Tech Schools are comprised of five full-time high schools (the Academy for Information Technology, the Vo-Tech HS, the Magnet HS, the Academy of Allied Health Sciences, and the Academy for the Performing Arts) on the Scotch Plains campus located at 1776 Raritan Road. The FBLA is the largest district student organization with 219 students representing all of the district’s schools.
Project Hope is a one-night event in which money is raised for a charity combating an issue that the club believes deserves greater recognition. This year the UCVTS FBLA is working with “OneSight” www.onesight.org/na/ to provide eye care, something many of us take for granted, to those who would not be able to obtain it under normal circumstances. OneSight's mission is to provide healthy vision and eye wear to those in need worldwide. To date, OneSight has delivered primary vision care and distributed eye wear in 37 different countries, helping more than 3.5 million people. The UCVTS FBLA chapter hopes to help this number grow even larger.
The evening is organized by the student members. The student members rally the
UCVTS "community" for this event each year - from students & faculty providing entertainment, to the vocational programs providing food, decorations and technical support. This year’s event will include a DJ, song and dance performances by the students from the Academy of Performing Arts, T-Shirt art, a fashion show, and a musical performance by the Scotch Plains-based band, Wolf Creek. This is the second consecutive year that Wolf Creek will have performed at “Project Hope”.
Wolf Creek has been performing Classic Acoustic/Electric music since 2008. They have performed all over Union County and incorporate many musical genres into their performances, such as rock, pop, country, and folk - from the sixties to today. They are comprised of: guitarist Frank DiProfio from Springfield, guitarist Ben LoBrace from Scotch Plains, drummer Don Rosenberg from Fanwood, and bassist Ron DelPrete from Scotch Plains. Ron Del Prete is also a Health & Phys. Ed. Teacher at the Academy for Information Technology & the Union County Vo-Tech High School.
“Project Hope” is scheduled to run from 7PM-10PM. All are invited to enjoy this evening of entertainment and education while helping out a charitable cause! Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Tickets can be purchased in advance by contacting the UCVTS FBLA Advisor, Mrs. Janet Kneisel at jkneisel@ucvts.tec.nj.us

More About Union County Vocational Technical Schools
Union County Vocational Technical Schools offer a variety of educational services to area residents on its Scotch Plains Campus. Programs and schools are highlighted below.
The Academy for Allied Health Services is an initiative that combines the resources of the district, Union County College, Rutgers University and the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Students enrolled in this grade 9 - 12 full-time program are prepared to become future doctors, nurses, medical technicians and health care managers.
At The Academy for Information Technology, high school students with an interest in computer science and information technology are enrolled in a college-level technical training program in computer science and a full regimen of honors-level academic classes.
The Magnet High School features competitive and specialized programs. Students enroll in a comprehensive course of study in engineering, as well as mathematics, science and technology.
The Academy for Performing Arts combines an intensive study program in theatre arts and dance with a rigorous academic curriculum. The program culminates with a senior year at Kean University, where students take a full freshmen college course load that includes a concentration as a performing arts major.
UC-Tech offers students a four-year full-time program that combines high school academics with access to the career or technical training program of their choice. Program include automotive technology, building trades, communication, public safety, culinary arts and cosmetology.
Shared-Time is a district program that offers students the opportunity to attend a variety of regular education and self-contained special education programs on a half-time basis. Students typically attend high school and then spend either the morning or afternoon on the Scotch Plains campus for vocational-technical specialization training.
Adult High School is for adults without a high school diploma who seek to obtain one. This program is available at the Scotch Plains campus, as well as in satellite locations in Plainfield and Elizabeth.
