Springfield Ave. Construction Info Meeting, Disaster-Preparedness Program

Here's what's happening Wednesday in Summit.

Mark Yeager, founder and principal of MRY Associates, will host a meeting at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall regarding the construction of a 35,000-square-foot building which will replace the existing structure at 466-474 Springfield Ave.

On Tuesday, Sept. 17, the Summit Common Council approved plans presented by  Yeager. Beginning Oct. 1, the Springfield Avenue entrance to the tiered garage will be closed and those wishing to park will enter on Maple Street.

Yeager told the Council that in the spirit of transparency he planned to hold this introductory meeting for neighbors and will follow up by sending out quarterly letters with updates as the project is ongoing. He added that his email address and phone number will be on all correspondence should neighbors want to reach him.

The Red Cross is joining forces with the police and fire departments to help Summit residents be more prepared in the event of a natural disaster. At 7 p.m. 'Be Red Cross Ready' will be held at the Lawton C. Johnson auditorium.
