B.I.G. Women’s Networking Event May 24:

The Summit pod of B.I.G. is thrilled to announce that its regular meetings will now be held at Twin Maples, the home of the Summit Fortnightly Club, at 214 Springfield Avenue in Summit.  The next meeting will be held May 24 from 10-11:30 am.  New members are welcome!

The topic for May meeting will be “Embracing Change While Avoiding the Potholes,” with guest speaker Joan Herrmann of Maximilian Communications.  We will investigate why change is important in our lives, and will offer tips and strategies on how to move through transitions.  And, of course, we will share lessons our own members have learned.  Most importantly, we will learn how to put a plan into action.

B.I.G. is a support, education and networking group designed to empower women at all stages of their professional pursuits, from stay at home mothers looking to re-engage in the workforce, to seasoned entrepreneurs and career executives looking to make a change.

B.I.G provides a non-competitive, supportive environment for women to brainstorm new ideas, consider barter opportunities, share success stories and help each other move toward their goals.  The group meets face-to-face, with each monthly meeting focusing on a different theme.  The website, www.believeinspiregrow.com was created to supplement the monthly meetings with an online business toolbox, relevant business information, resume and job search help, discounts for members, and forums for business ideas.

Summit Pod Leader Melanie Wilson, said, “We are different from the networking groups out there, because more than anything else, we start with support.  Our members often tell us that the wonderful thing about B.I.G. is that it is collaborative. Every B.I.G. meeting has an educational component to it as well and we plan our meetings around different business topics so that an entrepreneur does not necessarily feel that they have to know it all’."

“The speaker (many times sourced from the talented pool of women in the group) enables the women to leave the meeting with actionable steps to move their business or business idea forward,” she said.
