Kent Place Announces Special Preschool and Kindergarten Event for Prospective Families

The Admission Office at Kent Place School, an independent, college-preparatory day school for girls and young women, with a co-ed Preschool, announces a special event for prospective families interested in Preschool (Junior Pre-Kindergarten and Pre-Kindergarten) and Kindergarten programs.

The Admission Office will be holding a Winter Bedtime Story Hour for prospective parents and children on Tuesday, January 7 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Bring your child dressed in pajamas for milk and cookies and a bedtime story. While the children listen to the story and visit our classrooms, parents can hear about Kent Place’s early literacy instruction from teachers and curriculum specialists.

The Preschool at Kent Place is a Junior Pre-Kindergarten and Pre-Kindergarten program for boys and girls ages 3-5. Experienced and highly educated teachers; extremely low student to teacher ratios; state-of-the-art facilities and resources; and a curriculum focused on exploration, creativity and developmentally appropriate rigor are the hallmarks of The Preschool. Kent Place preschool children learn in an atmosphere of caring, trust and freedom in which each child can develop a positive self-image.

The major goals for Kindergarten at Kent Place are to develop self-confidence, self-awareness, independence and social skills along with the academic skills important for young students. They learn about themselves, each other and the world around them during daily Morning Meeting. A guided discovery and process approach helps students explore areas of the curriculum and build concepts. Children receive individual attention and work in large and small groups. Kindergarten children also learn to play cooperatively and interact socially. They are given several opportunities each day to make choices involving creative play, art activities, books, computers and listening centers.

A broad range of opportunities for leadership, social development and responsible citizenship is offered in all three divisions at Kent Place. Independent thinking and personal development are integral to the learning experience at Kent Place.
