Kent Place Leadership Institute For Girls To Hold Open House

The Girls' Leadership Institute (GLI) will hold an Open House on Tuesday, March 4, from 7:00-8:00 p.m. for families interested in the program.

Past participants will be in attendance to share their experiences with prospective girls, while program staff and counselors will be available to answer questions.  The Open House will be held in Atwood Hall in the Middle School on the Kent Place campus at 42 Norwood Avenue in Summit.

GLI, entering its 19th year at Kent Place, is an engaging and special experience for girls entering seventh or eighth grade. This unique program is designed to create and bolster the foundations for strong leadership, confidence, ethics and self-esteem.  Each girl is encouraged to explore her own style of leadership and strengthen her decision-making skills through an extensive program. The 10-day program takes place on the beautiful 26-acre campus of Kent Place School in Summit, NJ, from July 14 through July 25, 2014.

Participants will take part in a variety of activities, including a challenging ropes course, ethics workshops and relationship building with other young leaders. Community service and close interaction with high school and women community leaders are other important aspects of the two-week program.

The Girls' Leadership Institute at Kent Place is part of the school's ongoing commitment to being a community resource on women's issues and education.   Limited need-based scholarships are available.  For more information please contact GLI directors Holly Doyle or Erin Hennessy via e-mail at leadership@kentplace.org, or call (908) 273-0900, ext. 303.
