Kent Place School Community Wears Red to Raise Awareness for Heart Disease

On Friday, February 7, 2014, Kent Place School’s students, faculty and staff dressed in the color red and wore red ribbons to honor National Wear Red Day, the American Heart Association’s (AHA) nation-wide initiative to raise awareness in the fight against heart disease.

Heart disease is the number one killer of women in the United States. For more than 10 years, the AHA has sponsored National Wear Red Day.

Kent Place School’s Wellness Committee helped raise awareness about heart disease with the two-day event. On Thursday, February 6, the Wellness Committee provided heart-healthy snacks on campus.

The Kent Place athletic teams will also be sporting red during February to support Heart Month. The Kent Place Chapter of the John Taylor Babbitt Foundation in collaboration with the Dragon Athletic Club will be holding special red events at athletic games and matches throughout the month.
