Join the Summit Lions for a Tailgate Party on May 3rd

The Summit Lions Club will host their third annual live music event on Saturday, May 3rd from 7:00 – 11:00 p.m. at the Elks Club Lodge, 40 Maple Street, in downtown Summit. Everyone is invited to attend this fun, sports-themed event and enjoy a great night of music and dancing, with tailgate food and drinks; entertainment will be provided by well-known local band, Alternate Groove and all proceeds will benefit the Summit Lions' 2014/15 charitable projects.

Building on the success of last year’s Swing Dance Party, this year’s event will have even broader appeal, featuring an outstanding band that plays everything from classic rock ‘n’ roll and pop music to classic soul tunes – so there really is something for everyone. (You can see and hear the band at www.alternate-groove.com.) As for the sports theme, whether it’s football or hockey, the New York Jets or the Summit Hilltoppers, nearly everyone has a favorite team, so why not celebrate with a great tailgate party? “We wanted to throw a casual and fun event,” says Summit Lion Peter Twill, “and team sports are something everyone can get behind.” Plus, there’s always great food at a tailgate! Dress is casual and anyone who wears his or her favorite jersey or team colors will receive a free 50/50 raffle ticket.

In addition to live music and dancing, the Tailgate Party will include a silent auction (featuring pro sports and live theatre tickets, sports memorabilia, gift certificates, dinners, wine gifts and more) and a 50/50 raffle. There will also be a cash bar, and all that great tailgate food will be provided at no additional cost. Tickets are only $25 and may be purchased now on the Lions website (www.summitlionsclub.org) or at the door on the night of the event.

As the Lions’ primary fundraiser this year, this event will help support important programs such as eye exams for Summit children and residents in need, eyeglass recycling, high school scholarships, and many other local welfare projects.

The Summit Lions would like to thank their patron sponsors: Bassett Associates, Haven Savings Bank and Summit Medical Group, as well as their team supporters: Ace-Twill Printing & Mailing, Allstate Berkeley Heights, Otterstedt Insurance Agency, Smythe Volvo and Wealth Financial Partners for helping to make this event possible. For more information and to purchase tickets, go to www.summitlionsclub.org or contact Peter Twill at 908-665-1700, ext 12, or Terri Lahr at 908-516-2629.
