This year, the Summit Area YMCA will hold its 13th Annual Mother’s Day 5K Race on Sunday, May 11, 2014, in Berkeley Heights, to benefit LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA, a free recovery program that helps cancer survivors to reclaim their health. The Y is pleased to announce that Melanie Hughes of Summit, New Jersey, was randomly selected as the winner of a registration contest for the race. As one of the first 100 race registrants, Ms. Hughes won a Kindle Fire. Inspired by the Mother’s Day 5K Race, Ms. Hughes began running just two weeks ago through the Summit Running Company training program. She is looking forward to running her first 5K race, with her husband and three children cheering her on. For more information on the Mother’s Day 5K Run/Walk, visit www.thesay.org.
