2011 Youth Triathlon presented by Sneaker Factory

Registration is now open for the 2011 Youth Triathlon online at Active.com.  The event is Sunday, August 28th at the Crestview Pool Club, Maple Avenue, New Providence starting at 8:00 AM.  The triathlon is comprised of a 150-yard pool swim, 1.5-mile mountain bike, and .75 mile run.

The Youth Triathlon is for youths ages 8 to 15.  Each competitor’s time is recorded from the start of the pool swim to  the finish of the run.  The event is ideal for first time triathletes.  The 150-yard swim will snake down and back on the swim lanes in the Crestview Pool.  After exiting the pool, the athlete goes to the transition area on the pool grounds to put on sneakers, helmet and heads off onto the 1.5 mile mountain bike course.  The bike course includes single-track paths, gravel, root scrambles, finishing with a road section closed to traffic, courtesy of the New Providence Police Department.  The bike course ends at the transition area.  The ¾ mile run is a closed loop on flat terrain ending at the Crestview Pool.

The Youth Triathlon will award overall male and female champions and age group champions grouped as follows: 8-9, 10-11, 12-13 and 14-15.   All participants will receive a finisher medal, t-shirt, goody bag and a chance to receive numerous gifts provided by the sponsors at a random draw by bib number.
