Residents And Businesses Encouraged To Sign Up For City-Wide Emergency Alert System

Submitted by the City of Summit

The City of Summit is encouraging residents and members of the business community to prepare for potential crises by registering for Summit’s new official City-wide emergency alert system. The City recently changed providers from CodeRED to SwiftReach. This change will allow for increased cost savings as well as greater flexibility among City departments in issuing alerts and communicating during emergencies. The change requires residents and businesses to register for alerts through SwiftReach in order to continue receiving emergency information from the City.

To sign-up, go to http://cityofsummit.org and click on the SwiftReach logo at the top of the homepage. If possible, registrants are asked to submit contact information for both mobile and home telephone numbers. This will enable the transmission of information during emergencies where power is lost.

To assist citizens who may be experiencing trouble with the registration process, the City has posted a registration tutorial on the homepage and on the Emergency Management page. Additionally, residents and members of the business community can sign up in-person at City Hall by filling out a form that is available at the City Clerk’s Office or at the Police Records window
