Summit Updating Nine Payment Stations In Six Long-Term Parking Garages And Lots

Submitted by the City of Summit

The City of Summit Parking Services Agency is announcing its plan to update nine pay stations in six parking garages and lots. Replacement of the outdated technology will take place now through early August.

Locations include the Broad Street Garage, Broad Street East lot, Tier Garage, K-Lot (behind CVS), Post Office lot and Bank Street lot.

According to Parking Services Manager Rita McNany, updating of the nine pay stations is the first step of a coordinated plan to replace a total of 16 pay stations and establish equipment standardization in all lots except the DeForest Avenue lots.

“It is a priority for the City to simplify the parking process in Summit,” McNany
explained. “The incorporation of this new technology is the first step in that direction.” Payment at the new parking stations can be made by credit card, the Parkmobile parking app and with cash (exact change only). When paying at the new pay stations with a credit card, people will have the option to “extend by phone” within the allowed time limit for each facility.

Payment with the City SmartCard will not be accepted at the new machines; however, SmartCards will still be accepted at parking meters throughout town.
