A New Local Editor At Summit Patch

Caitlin Mahon, a local editor for two years, is taking over Summit Patch today. She will continue to oversee New Providence for New Providence-Berkeley Heights Patch, too.

Hello, Hilltoppers!

Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Caitlin Mahon and I am the new editor of Summit Patch. I'm taking over the reins from Camilo Smith, who has provided you with local news and information about Summit since October of 2011, and is now the editor of Cranford Patch.

Before I get into the nitty gritty of this major change for Summit Patch, here's some information about me:

I was born and raised in Forked River, NJ. In May of 2010, I graduated from Rutgers University in New Brunswick with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science & Sports Studies, and a dual major in Journalism & Media Studies. During my time at Rutgers, I served as a writer and editor for three years at The Daily Targum, the University's official daily newspaper, and completed internships at NETS Basketball, Home News Tribune, Good Housekeeping Magazine, 100.1 WJRZ, and SoBe Beverages/Pepsi Co. In September of 2010, I began my journey with Patch, serving as a Patch editor for the New Providence community. Then, in March of 2012, New Providence Patch and Berkeley Heights-Mountainside Patch married to create an even bigger, better hyper-local news and information site.

It's been a wonderful privilege to serve the residents of Berkeley Heights, Mountainside and New Providence. But the times they are a-changin' and they're a-changin' today. As I previously stated, Camilo Smith, your Summit Patch editor for the last year, moved across the county to take over coverage of Cranford Patch. As for New Providence-Berkeley Heights Patch, Springfield Patch editor Adam Bulger will now oversee coverage of Berkeley Heights while Nicole Bitette, the Associate Local Editor for Union County who primarily covers Scotch Plains and Fanwood, will now cover all Mountainside-related news. As for New Providence? I've been with the borough since the launch of New Providence Patch in November of 2010 and I'm happy to say my journey with that outstanding community will continue as my journey with all of you — the residents of Summit — begins.
