A Bit of Country Ends Summer Concert Series

The Beth Ann Clayton Band closed the Hot Summer Nights concert series with the sounds of Nashville.

The Beth Anne Clayton Band filled the Village Green with the sounds of Nashville during the final Hot Summer Nights concert of the season Monday evening.

The band, originally scheduled to play on July 13, entertained a crowd of approximately 500 Summit residents with original and cover songs spanning several decades of country, bluegrass and pop music.  Crowd favorites included Miley Cyrus, Creedance Clearwater and Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'."

As the band rocked out, a large crowd of children enjoyed free cowboy-style hats, balloons and ice cream provided by the concert series' primary sponsor, Investors Savings Bank.

Domenick Cama, Chief Operating Officer of Investors Savings Bank, said the concert series was an important event for both the town and the bank.

"This is our second year sponsoring the concert series and we believe in being good community partners," said Cama. "So when we were approached about getting involved with this event, we jumped at the chance because it's a great event for Summit and a great event for Investors Savings Bank."

Cama, who watched in business attire, said he attended three of the four concerts this year and enjoyed them immensely.

Judith Josephs, Director of Community Programs for Summit, was impressed with the turnout for the final show.

"We had an amazing crowd tonight considering it was a reschedule," said Josephs. "Tonight with the country hats and the music was just fantastic and the kids loved it."

Although the 2010 concert series is over, Josephs said the 2011 lineup is already in the works.

"I have thought about it, but I can't tell you who it's going to be!" she said.
