Come See the Barefoot Contessa at the Adult School of Montclair
Ina Garten will discuss new book with Anna Quindlen.
Here are five things you need to know today, March 23, 2011:
- It's time to start spring cleaning, and what better way to do so than making more room by donating your unused stuff? Westfield High School will be holding a clothing drive to support the Operation Wallacea trip to Africa this summer. Clothing in wearable condition, shoes, belts, handbags, linens, blankets, bath rugs, pillows, curtains, towels, stuffed animals, and hard toys (that would fits in a 24" X 24" X 21"box) will all be collected. Drop-off will be all day in the back parking lot of WHS by the science wing. If you have any questions, please contact Sara Soriente at ssoriente@westfieldnjk12.org.
- Athletes continue to gear up for the spring season with two lacrosse scrimmages today. The boys take on Mountain Lakes at 4 p.m. and the girls host Ridge High School also at 4 p.m. Both games are at Summit High.
- Summit Medical Group will host an informative talk about colon cancer and colon health and learn which symptoms might indicate a serious problem. Preventive health screenings such as colonoscopies will be discussed as well as personal practices you can use to maintain optimum GI health. Event starts at 7 p.m. on the Berkeley Heights campus.
- The Barefoot Contessa will talk with writer Anna Quindlen at the Adult School of Montclair about her successful ventures in retail, television and publishing as well as her life as a mother, wife and home cook. Her newest book is Barefoot Contessa: How Easy Is That? Fabulous Recipes and Easy Tips. Quindlen’s books have appeared on fiction, nonfiction and self-help best-seller lists, and her columns in The New York Times and Newsweek have won journalism’s most prestigious awards, including the Pulitzer Prize. Her most recent novel is New York Times best seller Every Last One. This event is part of the Ruth Stanton Illustrious Women Series, supported by the Ruth Stanton Foundation. Event starts at 8 p.m. Cost is $15 per person.
- Reminder: Residents can expect delays at the Transfer Station, upper level, due to an equipment maintenance project. Transfer Station staff will be available to direct residents to the appropriate areas for waste disposal.
