Two Days Left To Catch 'Thoroughly Modern Millie'

Curtain goes up on spring musical at 7:30 p.m.

Here are five things you need to know today. March 4, 2011:

  1. The Summit High School Performing Arts Department will present the Tony Award winning musical, , tonight at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 for students and seniors and $12 for adults.
  2. Macy's will be hosting a special bridal registry event. Along with registry experts to help you get the registry of your dreams, beverages and hors d'oeuvres will be served and you will receive a fabulous gift.  For more information and to RSVP, please call 973-912-5606 or email darryl.brady@macys.com to reserve your spot. Event will go from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and is free.
  3. Speed the Plow by David Mamet is still playing at . Speed-The-Plow is one of several successful plays Mamet has written about the business world. Filled with his trademark, rapid-fire dialogue, it focuses on the ruthless nature of Hollywood and the movie industry. With Mamet's superb use of dialogue and taught plotting the seemingly superficial depiction of two Hollywood producers looking for a big break finds deep meaning. Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for students (18 and under).Curtain goes up at 8 p.m. 
  4. There will be a gift basket auction tonight in Clark at 5:30 p.m. The Parents’ Guild of Mother Seton Regional High School is holding a "Pot of Gold" gift basket auction. This event will take place at 1 Valley Road, Clark.  The doors will open at 5:30pm on Friday, March 4, 2001.  Admission is $15 and you will receive one sheet of tickets, coffee, tea and dessert.  All tickets must be purchased in advance only.  For more information and to purchase tickets, please call 732-382-1952.
  5. It's the last day to register your child whose sixth birthday falls on or before October 1, 2011 for first grade next year! Registration will take place at the Summit elementary school the children will attend. If a parent is not sure in which elementary school neighborhood they reside, they may find out by calling the Summit Board of Education at 908-918- 2100, x3102.   Appointments are necessary for registration and can be made by calling the schools:  Brayton School, (908) 273-1276; Franklin School, (908) 277-2613; Jefferson School, (908) 273-3807; Lincoln-Hubbard School, (908) 273-1333; Washington School, (908) 273-0817.   Registration forms can be found on the Summit Public Schools website, www.summit.k12.nj.us. All completed registration forms must be submitted at the time of registration except for the medical forms, which must be completed and submitted to the schools by June 1, 2011. However, parents may submit the medical forms at registration if they are completed by that time. Also required at the time of registration are:   • The child's official birth certificate with raised seal. (Passport is acceptable if birth certificate is not available.)   • Four proofs of Summit residency. (Acceptable proofs of residency are listed on page 2 of the Preliminary Information sheet included in the registration packet.)
