Winter Storm Watch Goes in Effect Tonight

National Weather Service says between five and 10 inches of snow possible.

Here are five things you need to know, March 31, 2011:

  1. The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for tonight into Friday morning. Between five and 10 inches of snow are possible in our area. However, the track of the storm is still uncertain and the New York City Metropolitan Area could see mostly rain.
  2. Looking to learn a new recipe? Head over to the Kings Cooking Studio for "Baking with Citrus." Chef Suzanne Lowery will present this class.  Pre-registration is required and space is limited. Cost if $55 per person.
  3. Summit seventh and eighth graders and their families are invited to meet the Summit High School coaches tonight at 7 p.m. in the auditorium. Students and their families will then break out to meet their individual coaches.  There is a session for each athletic season. Vince Gabriele of Gabriele Fitness and Performance will be in the weight room leading discussions on the transition from middle school to high school athletics and Current SHS student athletes will be on hand in the gym to answer questions.  There will be door prizes and refreshments.  The Summit Boosters will be selling Hilltopper merchandise.
  4. Louise Kuo Habakus, author of Vaccine Epidemic, will lead a seminar on vaccine safety, efficacy, conflicts of interest, vaccination choice, and exemptions at 7 p.m. in Memorial Hall at St. Teresa of Avila. A book signing will follow the presentation.
  5. NJ American Water began flushing hydrants Monday throughout the city. Residents and businesses may experience low water pressure and/or discolored water. NJ American Water advised that if you experience discolored water from your tap, run the cold water until clear before using.
