$5K Donation Helps Replace Trees Lost In Storm

Summit Area Development Corporation donation will fund replacement of 25 Village Green trees.

Plans are set to get the Village Green back in shape for the summer. The Summit Area Development Corporation recently donated $5,000 to the city to fund the replacement of 25 trees destroyed by the severe storms last year.

Also, volunteers of "The Great American Parks Initiative" have announced the kick-off event to raise funds to rejuvenate, revitalize and renew Summit's cherished parks: The Village Green, The Promenade Park and The Bank Street Park. On Friday, May 11, 2012, (rain date May 18) there will be a silent auction and performances at The Promenade Park from 5pm to 9pm.

Featured performers will be Amp'd, The Judith G. Wharton Music Center, the New Jersey Youth Symphony, The Argentine Tango Dancers, Carolina Zokalski and Diego Di Falco. Moms, Dads and Kids of Summit will also be performing. It will be fun for the whole family! Admission to this event is free and open to the public. All are invited to enjoy this festival and be inspired to donate funds so that Summit's parks can be enhanced for generations to come. Donations may be made payable to SADC, PO Box 299, Summit, NJ 07902.
