Summit Police Support National Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Chief of Police Robert Weck said he looks forward to the day when there is a cure for the disease which affects one in eight women in the U.S. during her lifetime.

The following was submitted by the Summit Police Department:

During the month of October, Summit residents are going to be seeing a visible show of support for the National Breast Cancer Awareness campaign on the part of its Police Department.  

Summit Police Chief Robert Weck has authorized all the Department’s uniformed personnel to wear specially made pink T-shirts under their uniforms and each marked police car to attach a pink ribbon to its antenna.  

In addition, all members of the Department were given a pink ribbon lapel pin to show their solidarity with this cause.

Chief Weck expressed his appreciation of Police Officer Ryan Stanek for spearheading the cause and Summit PBA Local #55 for its generous financial support.  

He also noted, “We stand with the community in trying to raise awareness of this devastating illness and the benefits of early detection and treatment. We look forward to the day when there is a cure for this disease which will affect one in eight women in the United States during the course of her lifetime.”
