Atlantic Health System Ranks #25 on Fortune's '100 Best Companies to Work For' List

Overlook Medical Center's parent company shot up two dozen spots from the 2012 list.

Atlantic Health System, parent organization of Overlook Medical Center, lept up Fortune Magazine’s “100 Best Companies to Work For” list for 2013, landing at #25, two dozens notches above its 2012 placement at #49, it was announced Thursday.

AHS is not only the highest-ranked hospital system from the Garden State, but also the highest-ranked New Jersey-based company on the list, which hits newstands Monday.

“The key to our success, not only as an employer but also as a leader in health care, has been to reinforce the value we place in all of our employees, at every level of experience and talent,” said Andrew Kovach, Vice President, Human Resources and Chief Administrative Officer, Atlantic Health System in a press release. “Our continued recognition on the FORTUNE list reflects the engaged workforce and supportive environment that has allowed our organization to flourish.”

The ranking was driven by employees' positive responses to Fortune's questionnaire:

  • 93 percent or more of the employees who responded said the organization offered great rewards
  • 95 percent or more of the respondents said the organization offered a great atmosphere, great communication, great challenges and great bosses. 
  • 98 percent of Atlantic Health System employees experienced great pride.
Among the company's multiple opportunities for growth and development is a mentorship program in which seasoned employees volunteer to share their expertise and experience with aspiring leaders at AHS. The organization also features a faculty academy, in which employees who are well-known experts in their respective fields volunteer as internal speakers to impart their knowledge with others.
