Blow In Blow Out Offers Luxurious Locks in Little Time

No cuts, no colors, just blow outs in 30 minutes.

When busy mom and business woman Tara Galatt, a Maplewood resident, was traveling in California with her family last summer she discovered something she realized the Garden State was sorely lacking - the blow dry bar.

After spending days at theme parks and the beach, Galatt said she thrilled when her hotel concierge made an appointment for her to untangle her tresses at a salon specializing in blowouts.

"I said, 'This is a amazing. We need this in New Jersey,'" recalled Galatt, who will celebrate the grand opening of her new business, Blow In Blow Out, on Friday, Oct. 25.

Currently under construction at 330 Springfield Avenue in Summit, Galatt said she is thrilled to set up shop in the Hill City, where her husband was raised.

"We found the right spot. It's a great space and it just made sense," she said.

With a background in marketing and design, the entrepreneur said she is eager to create a salon where women can stop in, relax and leaving looking fabulous.

Regardless of hair type, length or volume, clients can receive a shampoo, condition, and blowout in six possible styles, including braids and up-dos, which they'll select from an iPad - all for about $35 and in approximately 30 minutes. For women who desire a house call, the salon will offer its 'Blow In' service, arriving, with blow dry in hand, at your home or other location for $90.

"We're all very busy," Galatt acknowledged. "We're working then we're running to Trader Joe's, we're picking up pet food, we're taking the kids to soccer. We don't have a lot of time but we still want to look and feel great."

Once patrons step inside, they can expect some fast-paced pampering. Upon arrival they'll be offered a cappuccino, espresso or tea. After 5 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, ladies can enjoy a refreshing glass of Prosecco, Galatt said.

"I've worked in advertising and I have an eye for business; I'm very detailed-oriented and I've really aligned myself with the right people," she said, adding that assisting her craft her dream space is a designer from HGTV.

Galatt also looks forward to launching a line of products aimed at promoting hair health and growth. Based on customer feedback, Galatt hopes to debut the line in spring of 2014.

"In between the cut and color, what do you do?" Galatt asked.  "Though short, we want it to be a fun, relaxing and fabulous 'me-time' for all our customers."

In honor of its grand opening, Blow In Blow Out is offering a special promotion for the first 50 customers who make an appointment on opening day; each will receive a 10 percent discount on their next visit.

While walk-ins will be accepted initially, Galatt said going forward clients are asked to make appointments through the website, which she added is very user-friendly.
