Enter To Win Free Parking At 'The Sweet Spot' By Monday

Sweet Nothings in Summit is giving away a free day of parking at a metered spot on Beechwood Road to one community member.

The cost and availability of parking in downtown Summit is an ongoing issue for numerous community members, especially since the DeForest Avenue lots began charging for parking earlier this year.

To help out one community member, Sweet Nothings is giving away one day of free parking at a metered spot in the downtown area.

Dubbed “The Sweet Spot,” a fitting name for a contest run by a store that offers an assortment of chocolates, truffles, candies, confections and gifts, Sweet Nothings Owner Donna Puzella says community members can enter to win in the store, located at 26 Beechwood Rd., through this Monday until 5:30 p.m.

“It was one of those ‘a-ha’ moments. The light bulb just went off,” Puzella told Patch. “With this contest, Sweet Nothings would like to give customers the opportunity to really experience downtown Summit without worrying about parking, meter time, etc.,” Puzella said. “Many of the merchants are offering fantastic sales so it's a good time to be here. Everyone should know that the paid parking lots on DeForest Avenue now offer one hour of free parking and some of the parking rates have been reduced. This is good news for everyone.”

The Sweet Spot, which is located in front of Puzella’s store front, costs $25 for the day, which Puzella purchased from the City of Summit.

Normally, the maximum amount of time allowed at a metered spot on Beechwood Road is for an hour and a half. But the winner of this contest can park at The Sweet Spot for free from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., which has to be used by Wednesday, July 31. Parking is normally free before and after those hours, too, Puzella said, so the winner can utilize the spot for the entire day of his or her choice.

Puzella says she would like to host this contest again, which will likely be sooner rather than later.

A complete set of rules for review is available at Sweet Nothings, Puzella says, and no purchase is necessary to enter the contest at the store.
