La Bottega Celebrates Grand Opening Today

Located at 50 Maple St. the Italian gourmet offers gluten-free options.

Though it's been open for nearly two months, La Bottega Italian gourmet will celebrate its grand opening with a ribbon-cutting this afternoon.

Located at 50 Maple St., the former home of Cafe Mavi, the restaurant whose name is Italian for "the shop or store" features lunch, dinner, Saturday and Sunday brunch as well as takeout and delivery.

Manager Bobby Falanga said so far Summit has given the eatery a warm welcome.

"The restaurant, our second, has been very well-received," said Falanga, who added that much like the location of the other La Bottega- Ridgewood- Summit is an "affluent community with an educated palate."

The restaurant, whose motto is "We didn't invent the Panini, we perfected it! " is a BYOB with a private room for parties.

"We're excited to be here, it's a great location," said Falanga.

From 3 to 6 p.m. La Bottega will offer free food tastings and giveaways. Mayor Ellen Dickson will stop by the bistro at 4 p.m. this afternoon to celebrate the ribbon cutting.
