Sip and Shop to Benefit the Pipes of Christmas

Local shop is raising money for the music scholarship fund.

J. McLaughlin is opening the doors of its Summit shop for a fashionable fundraiser to benefit the Pipes of Christmas music scholarship program.

The women's and men's clothing boutique with nearly 50 stores on the east coast, J. McLaughlin is offering an evening of shopping and Celtic socializing to benefit young musicians in the U.S., Canada, and Scotland. J. McLaughlin has pledged 15 percent of sales from the event to the Pipes of Christmas music scholarship program.

The event is being held at the store's Beechwood Road location Thursday, June 27, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Shoppers will also be able to purchase advance tickets to the Pipes of Christmas December concerts before they go on sale to the public later this year while nibbling on Walkers famous shortbread. 

The Pipes of Christmas will be performing on Sunday, Dec. 15 at the Central Prtesbyterian Church in Summit with an afternoon performance at 2 p.m.

The Pipes of Christmas premiered in 1999 with a mission to "to foster the love and knowledge of Celtic music in young people," according to a release. In the fifteen years since, they have created a volunteer-run organization that makes Celtic music accessible and enjoyable for young people around the world.
