Summit's Beacon Hill Tavern to Close March 31

Beechwood Road restaurant has been in business for nearly 50 years.

Summit's beloved restaurant and popular watering hole The Beacon Hill Tavern will pour its last pint March 31, according to NJ.com.

Among the reasons cited for closing the Beechwood Road mainstay, in business for almost a half-century, are the economic downturn, competition from other eateries and the bar's inability to extend the lease agreement with the landlord, according to the report.

The tavern, which has championed local schools and non-profits by donating a portion of their proceeds on given evenings to local causes, hopes to make its last call a special one.
