Who Makes the Best Coffee in Summit?

You can't function until you get a cup 'o joe. Cast a ballot for your favorite caffeine connection.

You need it to kickstart your morning, to nudge you across the finish line at the end of a long day.  Of course, those three cups in the middle of the day don’t hurt either.

Maybe it’s just the tool you need to get together with friends? After all, “Buy you a cup of coffee?” sounds a lot better than “Want to share a plate of artichoke hearts?”

Nobody needs a reason to drink coffee these days. Those brewed beans have become an essential part of everyone’s day, so whether it’s the local coffee shop, the diner around the corner or even the corner market, Patch’s “Best Of” goes searching this week for the purveyor of perked perfection. So, whether you take it black, four sugars, half-skim-half-whole-milk, give us your favorite and let us know what makes your coffee connection the best part of your caffeinated day.

You know the drill, we post the story today and keep it on the site through noon on Friday. Then we’ll run the numbers, crown our winner and give the newly named champ a chance to let us all in on their secret!

Annemarie Cahill February 28, 2012 at 12:19 PM
Absolutely, Cafe Mavi!!!
Meatball February 28, 2012 at 02:48 PM
Best is Mavi, with Batavia a close second place.
Daniel MacMahon February 28, 2012 at 06:29 PM
Let's not forget Food Express on Broad St (near Ashwood). Make your own coffee. (and the 6th one's free).

I love the blend at cafe Mavi, they have the best coffee in town! Keep it up Mavi

Thanks for all the input, you java lovers. Due to an email and a comment or two I've added Brownie Points, Food Express and just to really exhaust the list, 7 - 11 to the poll.

Cafe mavi is hands down the best they have the brewed coffee and the enviroment is so calm and tranquil I appreciate the personal care that a corporate coffee shop doesn't provide keep up the good work guys
Laurel Krill February 29, 2012 at 01:44 PM
Brownie Points, is the best absolutely, and don't even get me started on the "Duffins" - you have to try one! Best way to start your day! Laurel
Diane Verone February 29, 2012 at 06:44 PM
The coffee is great and the duffins are out of this world! You MUST try them. All the flavors are wonderful, my favorite is lemon!!! Moon pies are geat, too
Sarah February 29, 2012 at 07:11 PM
This is a great way to do a poll. However the truth is, only a few of these places specialize in coffee, I belive that ONLY the coffee places shold be on this poll. Ie; Brownies? How does a place that specilizes in brownies catorgorize in coffee , espcially when they sell only one type of coffee. Another thing, food express and brownie points were added last minute, and one of them has a enourmous amonunts a votes in less then one hour? Can you say fraud?
rebekka February 29, 2012 at 08:56 PM
So you would open the poll to only Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts then? Every other shop on here is primarily a food place that also serves coffee.
Patrick Nash February 29, 2012 at 09:27 PM
Cafe Mavi is good but my favorite is the coffee at Summit Bagel.
Camilo H. Smith (Editor) February 29, 2012 at 10:18 PM
Thanks for the comment Sarah. Can you share what your favorite coffee spot is? I think that anyone who likes coffee should know about the various cups of joe available around town.
Susan Zieleniewski March 01, 2012 at 04:20 PM
Great job, Brownie Point! Not only is the coffee great, but the treats are even better! Fraud??? Think not ! Brownie Points obviously has many loyal customers from the weekly Brownie Blast, farmers market and groupons! Keep the goods coming!!! Susan Zieleniewski
Susan Zieleniewski March 01, 2012 at 04:34 PM
I stop in Brownie Points every morning on my way to the train for a cup of coffee and a duffin. Love them both!
Melissa Soriano March 02, 2012 at 06:53 PM
It would have been nice if the poll was advertized properly before the actual contest! Maybe there would be no doubt about who has the fresher and best coffee in town! As far as I know there is only one place that has it brewed right in front of you!
Camilo H. Smith (Editor) March 02, 2012 at 07:13 PM
Thanks Melissa. This poll has been up since Monday giving everyone a shot (espresso?) to weigh in. Please, share your preference with us.
raymond March 02, 2012 at 07:18 PM
Really?I can sit and open explorer over and over and vote myself or which cafe shop i like.Is this a joke.?I do not think this will show real statistics for Summit. It will show how good your computer passion and how much free time you have to vote yourself? really?
Camilo H. Smith (Editor) March 02, 2012 at 07:24 PM
Thanks Raymond. That's possible, but we're trusting our readers and the people included in the poll voted using their Facebook fans and customers. Who did you vote for?
raymond March 02, 2012 at 07:42 PM
Well. In this contitions i wont vote. It wont show any realty. It is like vaiting at the bus station and count the people and make a comment. WOW 85 % people is using bus as a transport.Really?
Paul Pertusi March 02, 2012 at 11:50 PM
The competition is great....it makes us all better. Coffee is a personal experience that not only involves taste but also ambience, presentation, and your server's personality. I drink our coffee 98 % of the time but will occasionally enjoy a Starbucks or a Dunkin Donuts Java. Paul Pertusi, Owner Batavia Home
Camilo H. Smith (Editor) March 03, 2012 at 01:37 AM
Thanks for shedding some light on that Paul. Batavia is one of my personal favorites.
Robert Steelman March 03, 2012 at 03:15 PM
I see only winners in this caffeinated preference poll. It’s just another example that the businesses in Summit provide variety in product and experience even for small beans. Grind on.
