These parents, many of whom live away from extended family, will find a trusted resource in The Savvy Parent. “We provide a support system to a generation of new moms, families and parents who not only face challenges that are quite different from what their moms experienced, but often times they are facing these difficulties alone, in a new city, without the built-in network of parents, grandparents and other relatives living  ‘just around the corner’,” says co-founder Dr. Clare Cardo McKegney. “We offer our clients a comforting place to turn to when they need it the most.” The Savvy Parent serves clients in Summit, Chatham, New Providence, Berkeley Heights, Westfield, Millburn, Madison, Florham Park and surrounding areas.

Classes for expectant mothers include “Baby Care Essentials,” “Breastfeeding Fundamentals” and “Prepared Childbirth.” Moms with newborns and infants up to the age of 6 months will benefit from “Baby Set Go,” which provides information and advice on topics such as sleep, nutrition, calming a fussy baby (colic vs. reflux), techniques to bond with baby, infant massage, establishing routines, vaccination schedules, child care decisions and developmental needs. “Happy Mom, Happy Baby” offers non-judgmental support for a new mom’s emotional wellness.
