To bring safety suggestions to the attention of the Common Council, a citizen of Summit, or a group would have to write a letter, or a neighborhood petition to the governing body of the city. It’s received and then goes to the Council safety committee, which works with police on traffic safety issues.

The deadly accident on Union Place occurred just after 6 p.m. on Wednesday when a Nissan Xterra struck a woman crossing the street after work.  The woman, Cynthia Pelham-Webb of Short Hills was taken to Morristown Medical Center where she succumbed to her injuries. Summit Police are still investigating.
