Down the Shore: Drum Circles, Ice Cream Festival, County Fair!

What to do at the beach this weekend

Gorgeous weather should greet visitors to the Shore this weekend, but the many miles of beautiful beaches aren't the only attraction. From an ice cream festival to the conclusion of the Ocean County Fair, there's fun for the whole family.  

EVENTS

The Jersey Shore will scream for ice cream Saturday at the , planned from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Washington Street in Toms River. Visitors are afforded free admission and parking to enjoy a day of local shops' offerings, music from Magic 100.1 and The WRAT 95.9, live performances, balloon artists and much more. Winners will be crowned at 4:30 p.m.

Part traditional country fair, part modern carnival, the continues all weekend at the Robert J. Miller Airpark, Route 530, Berkeley. The Ocean County 4-H club handles a myriad of animal exhibits and events, and there are many family-friendly activities all weekend. The fair runs from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $6, children younger than 10 are admitted free. For a full list of events, click here. Dance to the rhythms of African and Latin drums this weekend at the fourth annual at the Murray Grove Retreat and Renewal Center in Lanoka Harbor. Various instructors will lead those registered in drumming workshops, although visitors can simply observe. Spots are still open to register. Head down to Manasquan Saturday for the  sponsored by the Manasquan Tourism Commission. Races will be held at North Jackson Avenue and Stockton Lake Boulevard. Registration begins at 9 a.m., and the first race begins at 10 a.m. All ages are welcome. For more information, call 732-223-8303.

There will be fun for everyone at the , from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at 5th and Ocean avenues in Bradley Beach. Fifteen local eateries will be represented and three bands will play rock, reggae and jazz. Shop craft vendors, local artists and a beer and wine garden, plus a number of activities just for kids including face-painting and inflatable attractions.

 — Martell’s is an extremely popular beach bar, with its tiki huts, island music and Caribbean-inspired drinks.You can find local entertainment nightly in the summer.

 — A large Irish pub and restaurant, Connolly Station has everything from late-night dancing to TVs for the big game.
