Fortnightly Club Hosts Japan Relief Effort Fundraiser

Plus: Assemblywoman Nancy Munoz will be honored tonight as a Union County Woman of Distinction.

Here are five things you need to know, Wednesday, April 13, 2011:

  1. Assemblywoman Nancy Munoz will be honored tonight as a Union County Woman of Distinction. The event will take place at 6:30 p.m. at L'Affaire in Mountainside. Cost: $50 Members and $55 Non-Members RSVP  to Ms. Hope Thompson (REGGAERED@GMAIL.COM)
  2. JAPAN RELIEF EFFORT: Fortnightly Club Member, Susi Yokomizo, who has family and Friends in Japan, is hosting a Kimono Fashion Show to Benefit the People of Japan at 1 p.m. Twin Maples, 214 Springfield Avenue, Summit, New Jersey. Suggested donation $20. Refreshments will be Served.
  3. Two huge lacrosse games today: Girls host rival Mendham at 4 p.m. while the boys travel to Caldwell to take on West Essex.
  4. The Summit College Club is having a book sale until April 17. As in previous years, the proceeds from the sale will go to scholarships for local high school senior girls in the greater Summit area (in the towns of Summit, Berkeley Heights, Short Hills, New Providence, Chatham).  This Book Sale (Committee of the Summit College Club)  a local charitable group that supports gender equity in Education and has an association with the AAUW. Pre-sale day for dealers, collectors and all book lovers.  $15 admissions fee.  9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  5. Reminder: The Municipal Golf Course opened this weekend. Navigate to cityofsummit.org to register for a membership and head down to the course to play a round.
